About Rob

Rob Wolken grew up in St. Louis, Missouri and graduated from the University of Missouri with a degree in TV and Film Communications. After graduate school, Rob moved to Los Angeles and started his career in the famed William Morris Agency mailroom. Two years later in 1994, he became the youngest agent in the company’s 75 year history.

In 2000, Michael Ovitz recruited Wolken to become a television manager in his new company, Artists Management Group (AMG), where he ended up running TV Representation Department. In 2003, after Ovitz sold the majority of AMG to The Firm, Wolken transitioned the division before leaving entertainment to start his own company in an unrelated field which he sold in 2009.

In 2010, Rob returned to entertainment and partnered with his former AMG colleague Jonathan Baruch to build Rain Management Group. In addition to managing the operations of the company, Rob handles artists in film, television, theater, and streaming.

In addition to running Rain, Rob has also Executive Produced several projects including 3 seasons of the ABC Family/Freeform series Stitchers, a CW Seed digital series How to Be a Vampire, and a movie reboot of the iconic Highway to Heaven starring R&B Artist Jill Scott.

Rob serves as a mentor for The Television Academy, has served on multiple boards including chairing the Entertainment committee for The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, and is a member of the both Lakeside Golf Club and Tetherow.  He and his wife Amy have 6 kids together and split time between Los Angeles and Bend, OR.  He is an avid golfer who is on a quest to play the top 100 golf courses in the world and has played 76 to date.  He loves live music and sports, plays guitar, and is a cigar aficionado.

I GOT INTO THE ENTERTAINMENT BUSINESS BECAUSE…
I was drawn to great tv, movies and music. Artists and their talents always fascinated me and I wanted to be part of the creative process.

THE MOVIE/BOOK/TV SHOW THAT INSPIRED ME MOST WAS…
Field of Dreams because it was the perfect blend of character, story and magical realism…plus it moved me to tears.

What I love most about what I do for a living is…
I love helping people achieve their dreams. Seeing them imagine a cool project or a better place in their career and then being a facilitator for that is really gratifying for me.

My happy place is…
I love being on a golf course - especially with my close friends. The physical and spiritual nature of golf really appeals to me and the endless laughs, triumphs and failures are indelible moments that I never forget.

ONE SONG FROM THE SOUNDTRACK OF MY LIFE WOULD BE…
Silly Love Songs by Paul McCartney and Wings because it’s unapologetically optimistic and appeals to our better angels.
